2020 is the second consecutive year that Bridge community school pupils sat the Common Entrance Exam.
In total 112 pupils sat the exam (58 girls; 54 boys) from some of the most impoverished communities in Lagos Nigeria including Ikorodu and Awoyaya. The number of children sitting the exam was an increase of 100%, compared to previous year. This is despite the challenges experienced during the covid-19 pandemic restrictions in Nigeria.
In 2020 the minimum aggregate marks for selection under national merit was 142 out of a total possible score of 200 marks.
Key Statistics:
- 62% of Bridge pupils surpassed the Lagos State unity school cut off mark.
- Bridge pupils outperformed the national pass rate by 44 percentage.
Further Statistics:
- Bridge’s best performing male and female pupils for 2020 outperformed 2019’s best performing male and female pupils by 8 and 7 points respectively.
- Bridge’s best performing male pupil, Shiji David Showemimo, scored 190 marks out of 200.
- Bridge’s best performing female pupil, Dawodu Anuoluwapelumi, scored 186 marks out of 200.
- There was an increase of 87% in the number of girls sitting the exam with Bridge in 2020 from the previous year.
Bridge’s best performing male pupil, Shiji David Showemimo, scored 190 marks out of 200.
