Bridge Celebrates World Youth Skills Day!

July 15th marks World Youth Skills Day, a day dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the importance of equipping young people with the skills they need to thrive in the modern world. At Bridge International Academies, since opening the first school in Nigeria, we have continued to remain at the forefront of providing quality education while nurturing the remarkable abilities of our pupils.

The theme for this year’s World Youth Skills Day focuses on “Skilling teachers, trainers and youth for a transformative future”. To provide a transformational learning experience to the next generation, the quality of teachers and facilitators must be critically looked into. Learning poverty has increased by a third in low- and middle-income countries, with an estimated 70% of 10-year-olds unable to understand a simple written text, according to a recent report published by the World Bank, UNESCO, UNICEF, UK government Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), USAID, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

According to UN Secretary-General António Guterres,

Equipping young people with quality education, training and skills is essential. This World Youth Skills Day reminds us that teachers stand at the forefront of this great global effort.

One of the unique features of Bridge International Academies is that teachers are supported with carefully designed lessons and high-quality materials for effective teaching and learning. Teachers at Bridge go through mandatory training before they are assigned to classrooms in order to ensure that they deliver effective learning.

According to Foyinsola Akinjayeju, Managing Director for Bridge International Academies, Nigeria,

At Bridge International Academies, we believe that investing in the professional development of our teachers is critical to ensuring that our pupils receive the best possible education. We are committed to providing our pupils with a high-quality education that prepares them for success. Our training program for teachers is a reflection of that commitment. We also believe that there are a variety of factors that lead up to effective learning, hence, the scope of the training covers topics ranging from teaching techniques, Bridge International Academies teaching methodologies, policies and so on.

Bridge understands the significance of empowering young minds with practical skills that extend beyond traditional classroom learning. We believe in fostering an environment where pupils can develop their talents and explore their passions through co-curricular activities. As a result, our pupils at Bridge have showcased their exceptional abilities time and again.

Recently, one of the outstanding pupils at Bridge International Academies, Adebola Banjoko, a Primary 6 pupil at Raliat Alabi Academy achieved a significant milestone by publishing a book. This remarkable accomplishment not only highlights the potential within each student but also emphasizes the dedication and support provided by Bridge International Academies to nurture and develop the skills of its pupils.

By encouraging pupils to explore their interests and talents through co-curricular activities, Bridge International Academies allows them to discover their passions beyond academic subjects. These activities provide a platform for students to participate in sports, arts, music, debate, public speaking, and more, enabling them to develop essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, and critical thinking.

The co-curricular program at Bridge International Academies serves as a testament to the organization’s commitment to holistic development. We recognize that nurturing well-rounded individuals requires more than just academic excellence; it requires providing opportunities for pupils to explore and cultivate their diverse talents.

Bridge International Academies believes that every child has unique abilities and strengths that deserve to be recognized and nurtured. By incorporating co-curricular activities into the school curriculum, the organization ensures that its pupils receive a comprehensive education that empowers them to succeed in all areas of life.

Bridge International Academies recognizes that by investing in the skills and abilities of its pupils, it is investing in the future of Nigeria and the global community. Through their diverse talents and skills, these young individuals will shape the world and contribute to society in meaningful ways.
